All our foster homes are full and Alvin needs to find a new place whether it be a new home or a foster home until then.
Alvin was adopted out as a puppy and was enjoying life living in a house, with access to his nice beautiful yard. Things changed and he is now in an apartment and he is just not adapting well to apartment life.
This is what his current owner has to say about Alvin! Alvin is 31/2 years old he will be 4 in August He is a Corgi Shepard mix Alvin has lived will other dogs He does not like cats Alvin is great with children and loves to play He will play ball and fetch He knows not to run off, walks on leash he listens to commands very well. He is a loud barker and will act all tough at first then will lick you to death. He is a great companion for someone that may live alone. He is a loveable dog!! He needs a home where he can run free chase birds and lizards, and lay in the sun. He does shed his beautiful reddish brown hair.
Alvin was taken to one of our vets to have a look at his eyes. He has Pannus AKA Chronic Superficial Keratitis affecting the cornea. If untreated can lead to blindness. It is a lifelong condition and can be managed. It is common in areas with high altitudes, heavy air pollution or intense UV light exposure, it is thought to be linked to immune system reactions to irritants like UV rays. It is most often seen in German Shepherds and their mixes, but can affect other breeds. Alvin is now on eye drops and will be for the rest of his life. He will need an adopter that will make sure he gets those as prescribed. He will also need Periodic eye exams as determined by your vet. Alvin has some cool UV googles on order in order to lower his exposure to UV light (Sun).
Because of his eyes Alvin is now listed as special needs
Alvin is neutered, current on vaccinations (DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella) and microchip.
If you would like to foster Alvin until we can find a home for him we will supply food and supplies if needed.
